The inspection of the provisional register of voters has today commenced in all the 7,700 Registration Centres throughout the country.
ElectoraL Commission of Zambia-ECZ has since appealed to all registered voters including those who registered in 2005 AND 2006 to ensure that they find time to inspect the provisional register of voters.
ECZ Chairperson Justice Essau Zulu says Inspecting the provisional register is of vital importance to each voter as the country prepares for the 2016 general elections.
The exercise ends at 17:00 hours on Saturday, May 21, 2016 May, 2016.
Justice Zulu says the provisional Register will be audited by an independent auditor before it is certified on July 31, 2016.
Meanwhile, Public Relations Manager Crispin Akufuna says any academic qualification higher than a Grade 12 Certificate for aspiring candidates will be accepted by the Returning Officer.
This follows the Judgement of the High Court on the interpretation of the Grade 12 Certificate.
Aspiring candidates have since been advised to obtain supporting letters from institutions validating their certificates, which should be presented together with the nomination papers and verified certificates on the Nomination Day.
