Political parties reject flawed ECZ 2016 Bill

Seven Political Parties have asked Parliament to withdraw the Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ-Bill 2016 as it lacks consensus.

FDD President Edith Nawakwi says there is need for the Ministry of Justice to call for a stakeholders meeting where ECZ will also be present so that the contents of the bill be agreed upon.

She says the bill in its current form is flawed.

All people’s Congress says the bill in its current form can be a source of conflict.

The political party leaders were speaking when they made their presentation before the Parliamentary Committee on delegated legislation Chaired by MMD Member of Parliament, Kenneth Konga.
