Three Unions of the University of Zambia have threatened to down tools unless Government pays June salaries by midnight tonight.
They say workers will stage a go slow to go and look for money to feed their families.
The three unions are the University of Zambia lecturers and Researchers Union, The University of Zambia Professional Staff Union and the University of Zambia and Allied workers Union.
In a statement made available to MUVI TV News the Unions have noted with concern failure by management and government to pay salaries for the month of June.
Meanwhile, Former University of Zambia workers have appealed to government to settle their terminal benefits.
The ex-workers say non-payment of their benefits more than five years after leaving employment has turned them in to destitutes.
Over one thousand former workers have not yet been paid out of two thousand.
