Post Newspapers, ZRA Battle Continues

The Zambia Revenue Authority-ZRA has insisted that the Commissioner General was in order to respond to a letter by the Post Newspaper to settle the full amount of the debt it owes the authority.
During a heated hearing in the Supreme Court, ZRA Lawyers led by Diana Goramota says the appeal by the Post should be dismissed as it lacks merit in that the Commissioner General is the primary player when it comes to the administration of the income tax act.
In this case, the Post Newspapers had appealed against the decision of the Commissioner General to order it to pay its tax obligations of over K26 million in full payment as the letter written to the authority had no room for appeal when infact it was directed to the commissioner domestic taxes.
