Zambia under 17 soccer team has been disqualified from the ongoing Council of Southern Africa Association – COSAFA Championship in Mauritius for using two overage players.
This came to light when Kenya complained to COSAFA organisers after the junior Chipolopolo beat them four goals to nil in the opening group B match.
Football Association of Zambia General Secretary Ponga Liwewe told the media in Lusaka that the two suspected Zambian players were summoned for magnetic Resonance Image -MRI scan test on Thursday July 28th 2016.
The results indicates that the two players are over the age of 17 years and are non-eligible to participate in the ongoing tournament.
Liwewe says the association has since written to the organisers for clarification on the process and methodology used in the testing.
He further told the media that in view of this, the technical committee of the football association has decided suspend the technical team to allow for a comprehensive investigation.
