The Zambia under 17 National soccer team has commenced its Cosafa cup title defense on a good note with a four bill win against Kenya.
The 2014 champions put up a breathtaking performance with victory sealed by halftime as a brace from Man-of-the-Match Nicholas Mulilo and a goal each from Damiano Kola and Nkandu Kunda gave them a 4-0 lead.
Oswald Mutapa’s men started the match with more purpose than their opponents and their efforts paid off in the 4th minute when Mulilo benefitted from a mistake by goalkeeper George Ouma to give the defending champions an early lead.
Mulilo doubled the lead following a good solo run and with only Ouma to beat, maintained his composure to net his second goal in the 13th minute.
Damiano Kola increased the advantage on 37 minutes before another mistake by Ouma enabled Nkandu Kunda to make sure of maximum points for Zambia in the 43rd minute.
The victory took Zambia to the top of Group B with three points ahead of the match between Malawi and Madagascar at the same venue.
