The African Union Election Observer Mission to Zambia has urged candidates contesting the elections to accept the results of this week’s polls to maintain the good democratic values of Zambia.
Observer Mission leader Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan says running a country is about the people’s will and not a personal investment.
The Nigerian Ex-Lealder has also implored the Electoral Commission of Zambia to manage the electoral process in an open and transparent manner and build stakeholder confidence in the results management process.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka, Mr Jonathan disclosed that the mission commends the commitment by stakeholders to contribute to the peaceful environment during campaigns despite a few pockets of violence.
Mr. Jonathan is leading a 56 member mission of African Union’s Observers who will oversee the election coming up this Thursday, at the invitation of the Zambian Government.
