Urgently Resolve Challenges Facing East Tobacco Farmers, Govt Urged

Government has been urged to quickly resolve the challenges facing tobacco farmers in the Eastern Province.
Chipata District Farmers Coordinator Virgil Malamba says tobacco farmers are facing challenges especially during the marketing season due to lack of an Association to control the buying process of the commodity.
He says it is only Eastern Province where Tabacco Board of Zambia-TBZ is involved in the buying process of tobacco while other provinces have Associations that run the floors.
In 2015 tobacco farmers rejected Eastern Fodya Association of Zambia, prompting government to appoint TBZ to help run the floors.
