Chingola Mine Acid Victim Appeals For Specialist Treatment

A miner of Chingola who suffered acid burns on his face about nine months ago is appealing to be evacuated for specialist treatment.
39-year-old Sherry Silwimba says his condition requires plastic surgery which is not available in the country.
He says the last nine months have been traumatic for him as his face has been disfigured and that he is having difficulties to eat.
Mr Silwimba says the company he worked for, MSL Africa Machinery has not been helpful in addressing his plight.
And when contacted for a comment, MSL Africa Machinery Human resources manager Ribbon Chama says Mr Silwimba’s case is in the hands of the Workers Compensation Fund Control Board.
On the issue of evacuation, Mr Chama says that can only be determined by medical doctors.
He says the company is taking care of Mr Silwimba since the accident happened on November 2015.
