PF’S Attempt to Cancel UPND Rally Fails to Make Impact

Attempts by the Patriotic Front-PF to cancel the UPND rally in Kitwe has failed to make any impact as UPND President Hakainde Hichilema decided to instead hold a Press conference where he covered a number of issues.
At a Press Conference held at Kitwe’s Moba Hotel, Mr Hichilema spoke about the violence and the recent ruling by the Constitutional Court that PF ministers have continued in office illegally and must now pay back all the money they owe to the Zambian people.
He explained the significance of the Constitutional Court ruling of Monday August 8, 2016 as evidence that Mr Lungu has benefitted from state resources during the campaign.
Mr Hichilema has also questioned President Edgar Lungu as to what he is afraid of, for him to be behaving in such a manner .
Mr Hichilema has also advised institutions, such as ZICTA and the Zambia Police, to resist being abused and misused by Mr Lungu.
He has further thanked all UPND members who have behaved calmly in the face of provocation during the campaign period.
He says while the campaign period had not been free and fair, Mr Lungu should make sure he does not interfere with the election itself, or he will find himself being ruled against in the courts of law.
Apart from ruling against the PF on illegal ministers, the Constitutional Court has also ruled in the UPND’s favour on PF attempts to have the rally at Kitwe’s Freedom Park cancelled.
The Courts has also ruled in favour of the UPND in the matter with ZNBC on the airing of the UPND’s documentary entitled ‘Hakainde Hichilema – The Man, The Vision, The Plan’.
