ZUFIAW Warns Of Strike Action at ZANACO

The Zambia union of financial institutions and allied workers-ZUFIAW -has castigated Zambia national commercial bank-ZANACO-for imposing a wage freeze on salaries for unionized workers this year.
ZUFIAW general secretary Chingati msiska says the move is exploitation of workers’ rights.
He has since called on the government and other stakeholders to quickly look into the matter before ZUFIAW pushes for a countrywide strike.
Mr. Msiska was speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka.
ZANACO Management says a dispute was declared on three items regarding negotiations and has proposed a date for another meeting to try and resolve the issues.
ZANACO Head Corporate Affairs Joy Sata says the matter will proceed to conciliation if the parties do not reach an agreement.
