NGOCC saddened with PF party’s decision to bar Tasila Lungu in deputy mayoral race

The Non-governmental organizations coordinating council-NGOCC-says it is dismayed by the ruling PF party’s decision to bar councilor Tasila Lungu from contesting for the position of Lusaka deputy mayor.
NGOCC Executive Director, Engwase Mwale says the move is an infringement on Ms. Lungu’s democratic right both as a woman and a citizen of Zambia.
She says Ms. Lungu’s election to the local government should cheer citizens who want to see youth and women’s participation in key positions of decision making become a reality.
Ms. Mwale was speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka.
The PF says its decision to float Mpulungu ward councilor, Christopher Shakafuswa for the position of deputy mayor is final and any party member who will not toll the part position will face disciplinary measures.
