22 Fatal Mine Accidents Recorded Between January And October 2016

Twenty-two fatal accidents have been recorded in the mines from January to October 2016, presenting an increase of seven deaths from the statistics recorded in 2015.
Mines Minister Christopher Yaluma says government is concerned with the increase and that measures to minimize accidents will be implemented through conducting periodic mine safety audits.
And while statistics of fatalities may be alarming, some survivors of mine accidents are lucky to undergo specialist treatment abroad.
Nicholas Mumba has arrived from India where he underwent major abdominal-thoracic surgery.
In 2012, Copper ore spilled into his mouth causing him to suffer from digestive tract complications.
