More Than Fifty Houses Demolished In Lusaka West

Over Fifty Houses in Lusaka West area bordering the residence for office of the President staff have been demolished.
The residents told Muvi TV news that a combined team of Zambia police and National Services officers moved in with a bulldozer at about 03 Hours and ordered everyone out of the houses before the demolition.
The area has been a subjected of controversy over the demarcation between the O.P land and the community along Mumbwa Road in Lusaka West.
The residents who have been left homeless claim the settled on the land when it was still under customary, over fifty years ago.
A Muvi TV clue found families gathered around their household goods as armed police in riot gear kept vigil.
Meanwhile, Lusaka Province Police Commissioner, Nelson Phiri has confirmed that police were at the demolition site to provide security while the Lusaka city council carried out the exercise.

He says the land in question belongs to Office of the President College.
