A Police officer has told the Lusaka Magistrates Court that Vice President Inonge Wina lied in Parliament when she apologized over the beating of Komboni Radio Director Lesa Kasoma Nyirenda.
Simon Chisanga has told Magistrate Felix Kaoma that no command called him to get a report of what transpired at Komboni Radio for the Vice President to issue such a statement in parliament.
On October 7, 2016 Ms Wina apologized to Ms Nyirenda over the beatings saying police officers went out of their way during the course of their duty.
Police Officers guarding the Radio Station after it was closed by the Independent Broadcasting Authority beat up Ms Nyirenda who, in self-defense bite one of them.
The incident happened when she went to the radio station to inform the officers guarding the premises of the government’s resolve to lift the broadcasting licence suspension.
