Public Transport Operators Propose 25 Percent Bus Fare Hike

Public Transport Operators have proposed a 25 percent increment in bus fares.
Capital Buses Director Ismail Khankhara says the consultation are however still ongoing with stakeholders on the new fares.
And Public and Private Transport Association President Josiah Majuru says the association has written to the ministry of Transport and Communication over the matter.

Meanwhile Public service vehicle drivers in Ndola’s Chifubu township drivers this morning suspended their operations in protest against the 25 percent bus fare increment.
The drivers’ protest caused panic among commuters after they boycotted transporting them to town.
Chifubu Bus and Taxi Drivers Association chairperson Joseph Phiri said the percentage increment does not tally with the recently hiked fuel prices.
By press-time, commuters in Chifubu were still stranded while business has normalized in Twapia, Masala and Lubuto townships following earlier boycotts.
