Construction Of Kanyika Dam On Course In Kasempa District

The construction of the 79 Thousand square meters Kanyika dam aimed at boosting irrigation system in Kasempa district is on course.The World Bank funded project being constructed at the cost of 4.5 million will have a capacity of 1.4 million cubic liters of water.The dam will also see farmers in the area engage in fish farming.
Savender Construction Site Manager Victor Mateneke says construction works are set to complete in March 2017.
And District Administrative Officer, Kelvin Ndandanda says the dam will greatly benefit the farmers.
He says farmers who were displaced to pave way for the dam works will be compensated fully and given first priority to use the dam.
