Fuel Shortage Looms In Lusaka As Fuel Tanker Drivers Refuse To Offload

Lusaka residents should brace for fuel shortage as tanker drivers have refused to off-load the commodity at Tazama Depot in the industrial area.
The protest follows the shooting to death of two drivers by their employers in Tanzania on accusations of abnormal shortages. The tanker drivers have also disclosed that seven of their colleagues have lost jobs over the same accusations.A check by MUVI TV NEWSCREW found that the drivers have not offloaded since Wednesday last week demanding that Zambia Weights and Measures intervenes.
Zambia Union of Tanker Drivers Association General Secretary Humphrey Kapesha says the drivers are suspecting that Tazama employees may have tempered with the meters in order to implicate the drivers.
Other drivers from Tanzania have called on the Zambian government to intervene.
