Kafue Residents have urged government to consider revising the tollgate fees on Kafue-Lusaka road.
One of the residents William Chilufya says most of the people who reside in Kafue but work in Lusaka District will find it difficult once the Shimabala tollgate, which is under construction at the moment, is commissioned in January next year.
He says the proposed go-come forty kwacha is too exorbitant to an average motorist who is surviving from a monthly salary.
The National Road Fund Agency has started installing toll gates at selected gazetted toll points across the main road networks using the cost effective ‘Booth and Boom’ technology, which are expected to rake in K800 million into the national treasury by the end of this year.
Currently, Small vehicles are paying K10 with mini buses paying K15 while light trucks are paying between K25 and K40.
Heavy-duty trucks are currently paying K60 and K80 with those carrying abnormal loads paying K160 and K250.
