Mwinilunga Farmers Complain Over Delayed Payments

Farmers in Mwinilunga district of North Western province have complained over the non-payment of their money by the Food Reserve Agency-FRA.The farmers who supplied maize to the agency gathered at the named local Bank to receive payment but were told the money had not been received. The regional FRA office also informed the farmers that Government had not yet sent the money. One of the farmers Bowas Samalesu says he is unable to send his children to school as he has no money. He further complained that he will have difficulties conducting farming activities due to lack of money to procure inputs.Mr Samalesu claims three quarters of farmers in Mwinilunga district have not yet been paid.Last month the FRA issued a statement that it owes farmers more than 402 Million Kwacha, while it had paid out more than 73 Million Kwacha.
