Ndola Bus Drivers Protest Over Presumptive Tax, PSV Licence Renewal

Commuters in Ndola were today stranded after Public Service Vehicle drivers boycotted work in protest against the re-imposed presumptive tax and the one year renewal of the PSV licences.
The affected commuters who had already boarded buses were ordered to disembark in what was becoming to be a tense situation.
The drivers have charged that president Edgar Lungu has revoked the law in 2015, and cannot accept to pay the fees which are exorbitant.
On renewal of licenses, the drivers have accused the Road Traffic and Safety Agency-RSTA of making their work difficult.
But RTSA Head of Public Relations Fredrick Mubanga says the agency is in the process of reviewing the RTSA act, and the drivers’ matter is being tabled.
