Post Newspapers Seeks Court’s Help To Halt Liquidation

The provisional liquidator of the Post in Liquidation, Lewis Mosho has fired post Post’s lawyers and has appointed new advocates to defend the company.This is in accordance with powers vested him.
Meanwhile, the Post Newspapers Limited has filed in a stay of execution of judgment which was placed the company under liquidation.The newspaper is seeking to halt the court order, contending that the high court judgement be declared null and void.
An interparte hearing has since been set for Thursday 3rd November.
Ex-employees of the company have been granted an order to have the company liquidated so as to have them paid their terminal benefits.
Meanwhile Post Newspapers Managing Director Fred Mm’embe has accused government of suppressing independent media in the country.
Mr. Mm’embe has accused President Lungu and the government of continuing their continued their crusade to shut down all independent media houses.
He says liquidation of the Post Newspapers Limited does not surprise him.
He however adds that he is saddened by the development because of its impact on the country’s democracy and on the thousands of people whose livelihood who depend on the newspaper.
