The High Commission of Zambia in South Africa has advised Zambians travelling to South Africa to ensure that they book themselves in reputable hotels and other forms of accommodation to avoid falling victim to unscrupulous people. The warning comes in the wake of reports of several Zambians being waylaid and robbed of belongings and valuables as soon as they arrived at airports or bus stations.
The latest attack involves seven Zambian senior officials travelling from Angola who were trailed from ORT International airport to their lodging facility in Kempton Park in Johannesburg and robbed off their belongings at gun point. The travelling public has also been advised to avoid seeking services from exposed points of sale such as Bureaux de Change and ATMs at airports of bus stations as this tends to attract criminals.
This is according to a statement made available to Muvi TV news by Press Secretary at the High Commission of Zambia in South Africa, Nicky Shabolyo.
