Firing Of Five Zesco Directors Angers Labour Movement

The National Union of Energy and Allied Workers has described the dismissal of about five directors at ZESCO as corporate sabotage.Union General Secretary Manson Mutambo says the firing of top level directors without giving reasons violates the Industrial and Labour Relations Act which has now made it illegal to fire anyone without giving any reasons.Mr Mutambo says what is more surprising is that the dismissal comes barely two weeks after the dissolution of the board of directors.
And Union National Trustee Swaka Walaweka says it is not acceptable that a chief executive officer can fire his top level directors without the board sanctioning the move.
