FODEP Calls For Policies That Will Benefit Residents In Mining Areas

Forum for Democratic Process-FODEP Executive Director Mweenge Chimfwembe has called on government to work on the lapses in the policies so that the residents in areas where there are mining activities can benefit from the resource.
Mr. Mweenge says it is saddening to note that most areas nearer to mines have remained under-developed.
He says there is need for civil society organisations to advocate for the rights of the communities so that they can also have a share of the minerals being extracted.
Mr. Chimfwembe made the remarks at a stakeholders meeting in solwezi.
