237 Accidents Recorded During New Year Celebrations

Two Hundred and Thirty-seven road traffic accidents were recorded throughout the country out of which 17 people died during the New Year celebrations.
Seventy-Eight people were seriously injured while 74 people sustained minor injuries between December 30, 2016 and January 2, 2017.
Police Spokesperson Esther Mwaata Katongo says Lusaka recorded the highest number of accidents in which two people died with five sustaining serious injuries.
Ms Katongo says in a statement issued to MUVI TV NEWS that Copperbelt had 46 accidents out of which three people died with 30 sustaining serious injuries.
She says Central Province recorded 36 accidents with five deaths and 12 serious injuries followed by Eastern recorded with 29 accidents.
