A Drug Enforcement Investigative Officer has told the Lusaka magistrate court that he apprehended two people who were selling HIV Test Kits.
This is in a matter where three medical officers and two businessmen are charged with Theft by Public Servant and Possession of Property Suspected to have been stolen.
When the case came up before Lusaka Magistrate Ireen Wishimanga, 42 years old Muma Lumpa told the court that he lured the two brothers, Innocent and Jasper after an informer told him they were selling HIV Test Kits.
Lumpa said he apprehended them when they delivered the test kits in George compound to one of the ladies who assisted him and the police to lure the two brothers.
Lumpa further testified that the lab technicians were indicted with the two brothers after they told police that they were the suppliers of the Test Kits.
It is alleged that James kalaba, Jerome Zulu, and Seay Nyendwa being persons employed in the public service as lab technicians in the ministry of health between 16th June and 4th November 2016 jointly and whilst acting together stole 50 by 100 determine HIV Test Kits altogether valued at five thousand kwacha, the property of government which came into their possession by virtue of their employment.
It is alleged in count two that innocent and Jasper Chambwilo on 4th November 2016 jointly and whilst acting together had in possession 50 by 100 determine HIV test kits valued five thousand kwacha property which was reasonably suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained from government.
