The Ndola City Council has admitted that the poor sanitation in most markets in the city is due to its failure to pay workers who collect garbage.
Ndola Deputy Mayor Kenny Kasabo says the council has not paid salaries to the workers since May 2016.
Mr. Kasabo however says that the salary arrears will be paid soon.
Meanwhile, residents of teachers’ compound in Masala have called on the local authority to be serious when dealing with health matters such as garbage.
