Over 500 Trucks Marooned At Kasumbalesa Boarder Due To Drivers Protest

Over five hundred trucks are marooned at Kasumbalesa boarder post following a protest by drivers against attacks by Congolese nationals and soldiers.
The drivers, mainly from the SADC countries are saddened with the continuous harassment in the Democratic Republic of Congo and have since vowed not to enter the country until the matter is addressed.
Some drivers attribute the attacks to the ongoing tension in the DRC which they say has spilled over to Zambia.
Copperbelt Minister Bowman Lusambo met Haut Katanga governor Jean Claude Musonda Kazembe in a bid to resolve the impasse.
The duo later addressed the drivers and assured them of safety.
