SME Savings and Credit Union Co-operative Limited has explained its position over the organisation’s delay in supplying farming inputs to farmers.
Board Chairman, Franklyn Membe, explains that in 2015, the organisation had targeted Southern Province, with about 75% of the inputs having been distributed.
He regrets that the well-intended revolving project was not properly implemented this time around blaming the situation on co-operative members in the province who used it as a political campaign strategy.
Mr. Membe however says the organisation has managed to come-up with a list of defaulters, which has already been submitted to the Ministry Commerce Trade and Industry for further investigations.
Recently, farmers from Chongwe district among others protested against the organisation, accusing management of swindling them of their money.
The Director, Arido Longwe has since been arrested and charged with obtaining money by false pretence.
