North West Low Pass Rate Worries Mining Firm

The low passing rate for grade twelve pupils in the North-Western Province in the 2016 examinations has largely been attributed to the low staffing levels as well as poor teaching methodologies by teachers.

It is for this reason that Kansansi Copper Mines has embarked on an advanced re-training program for teachers and so far 19 schools have been targeted.

Kansanshi Mines Public Relations Manager Geoffrey Msiska says since inception of the program, the pass rate has improved from 19 percent to 44 percent this year.

Mr. Msiska made the remarks at a public forum in Solwezi.
