UPND President Hakainde Hichilema and his Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba have asked Lusaka High Court Judge Mwila Chitabo to recuse himself from handling the presidential election petition.
In a notice of motion for récusal and order of transfer of the case, Mr Hichilema and Mr Mwamba say Justice Chitabo cannot continue to preside over the case due to conflict of interest as he has shown impartiality in this matter.
The UPND leadership says the judge has shown personal or perceived bias in his conduct of the proceedings.
The hearing of the petition is expected to commence tomorrow, March 15, 2017.
