LCC Retirees Remain Unpaid

Retried Lusaka City Council workers have still not been paid their benefits despite the sale of some assets.

The council last year placed some of its assets on sale in a bid to clear off debt owed to its retirees.

Among the assets sold was a plot housing the Lusaka Central Constituency office.

Council Public Relations Manager Habenzu Mulunda says only one client has not paid for the plots targeted for residential use.

Mr Mulunda could, however, not state the amount of money realized so far saying the prices varied according to the seize of the plot.

Spokesperson for the retirees Milner Hatontola, however, says the retirees are not aware of the funds realized from such transactions especially that they have not been paid their dues to-date.
