Seditious Practices Case Taken To High Court

The Lusaka Magistrate Court has referred to the High Court for determination of a constitutional matter the case in which UPND youth Gilbert Liswaniso is charged with seditious practices.
In the last sitting Liswaniso’s defence councils asked the court to refer the case to the constitutional court to determine whether or not words uttered by Liswaniso as quoted in the indictment violate or contravene article 20 of the constitution which highlights press freedom.
Liswaniso allegedly uttered a statement that he and others will not recognize the legitimacy of president Lungu with intent to bring contempt, disaffection, resistance or disobedience.
