Chief Justice Irene Mambilima has allegedly refused to establish a tribunal to probe Agriculture Minister Dora Siliya for her alleged corruption in the Zambia-Malawi 345 Million Dollars maize exportation scandal.
The Chief Justice contends that she engaged an unnamed investigating agency to assess the probable cause and that she has been advised that there is no evidence of corruption against Ms. Siliya.
This is according to correspondence between the chief justice and United Progressive People – UPP leader Saviour Chishimba, who is the petitioner.
The UPP has since written to the Chief Justice stating that she misdirected herself to seek the assistance of an unnamed investigative agency.
Dr. Chishimba argues that the power rests with the tribunal and NOT the Chief Justice as provided by the law.
