Zambian legislature have been challenged to query Minister of Agriculture Dora Siliya and others implicated in the maize-gate scandal between Malawi and Zambia.
In an exclusive interview with Muvi TV News in Malawi, Chairperson of the Joint Malawian Parliament Committee on Agriculture Joseph Malunga says the Zambian parliament should query the alleged maize gate scandal.
Dr. Malunga says it is clear that officials from the Ministry of Agriculture in Zambia were fully involved in the alleged corruption scandal.
He says Members of Parliament and Civil Society Organizations-CSOs in Zambia have a moral obligation to interrogate the matter.
Dr. Malungu who is an Independent Member of Parliament from Nsanje South West Constituency, has further told Muvi TV NEWS that the Zambian Ministry of Agriculture in questionable circumstance gave a Malawian Company Transglobe permit to export maize to Malawi a company which had no contract with neither ZCF nor Admarc.
He further says the Ministry of Agriculture blessed the pre-clearance of the Hundred Metric tonnes of Maize when in fact ZCF through its agents had only delivered Four Thousand metric tonnes.
Dr. Malungu has further disclosed that the maize that ZFC supplied to Malawi was contained in questionable sacks saying some maize was parked in fertilizer sacks.
