Constitution, Electoral Act Flaws Negatively Impacted On 2016 Polls

Serious flaws in Zambia’s Constitution and Electoral Act have been cited by the Electoral Institute of Sustainable Democracy in Africa as having impacted badly on the August 11, 2016 elections.
The report has since recommended for a review of the constitution as well as the electoral act.
It has also proposed Ninety days as the time frame in which the Presidential election petition should be heard.
This follows failure by the constitutional court to determine the presidential election petition in last year’s elections due to time limitations.
