Continued Delay In Paying Contractors Disadvantaging Private Sector

Financial Analyst Noel Nkoma says the tendency by government to owe contractors over a prolonged period of time has serious negative ripple effects on the growth of private sector.

Mr Nkoma says worse still is a case where the Zambia Revenue Authority is mandated to garnish supplies payments from government, leaving the contractors vulnerable.

He says there is need to come up with a mechanism to sustain the growth of contractors as much as government is mandated to collect taxes.
