Labor Movement Disappointed With Labour Inspectors In Zambia

The labour movement has described the state of labour inspectorates in Zambia as terrifying.
Zambia Congress of Trade Unions Deputy Secretary General, Misheck Nyambose, says inspectors have failed to protect workers’ rights in spite of ongoing violations in workplaces.
Mr. Nyambose has accused government of paying lip service to legislation on Occupational Safety and Health-OSH-for employees.
He says government’s weak stance has allowed employers to ignore their obligations, a situation which has put the health and safety of workers at risk.
Mr. Nyambose was speaking at the commemoration of Safety and Health at Work held under the theme, “Optimise the collection and use of OSH data”.
