Police Launch Investigations Into Shot Bus Driver

Police have instituted investigations on whether the person who shot a bus driver and a passenger in Lusaka’s Kamwala township on Monday is a genuine police officer or not.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo says the two were shot by a person wearing a police combat uniform.
It all started when the driver of the bus identified as Harrison Miti aged 30 of Chawama overtook the Toyota Corrolla with unknown registration number which the said officer was driving.
The said officer then blocked the minibus and demanded to see a driver’s licence from the mini bus driver.
Ms Katongo says the assailant pulled a pistol and fired at the mini bus driver in the abdomen and also shot a passenger on her left leg after the driver failed to produce the license.
The two victims are currently admitted at the University Teaching Hospital.
