Zambia Corporative Federation-ZCF- executive director, James Chirwa has narrated how middlemen duped government and struck a deal in Malawi, while demanding a commission from Zambia for the supply of maize to that country.
Mr Chirwa claims both ZCF and the Zambian Government did not know that an agent called Kaloswe Commuter and Courier Limited contracted in the purchase and supply of maize had also gone to Malawi to close a deal with that government’s Department of Agriculture-ADMARC.
Mr Chirwa also claims that it only came to the Zambian government’s attention that after entering into a contract with ZCF, Kaloswe also went and entered into a contract with ADMARC for the supply of the 100,000 Metric tons of maize.
He claims that only five thousand Tons of Maize has so far been delivered to Malawi and that ZCF has not received any payment from ADMARC to date.
This is the first time such information is being released by one of those linked to the scandal since media reports on the matter came to the fore.
