Alarming Child Abuse Cases Sadden Child Rights Body

Advocates against Child Abuse and Gender Based Violence are saddened with the increased number of Child abuse cases and GBV.
Advocate Executive Director Bellion Chola has since called for consented efforts in sensitizing the general public on the dangers of the vice.
On May 3, 2017, the Police quarterly report revealed that statistics have shown that Lusaka Province is the country’s most unsafe place for girls in light of alarming defilement cases.
Police Spokesperson Ester Mwata Katongo stated that the alarming defilement figures standing at 330 constitute more than fifty percent of the cases recorded across the country in the first quarter of 2017.
The report further showed that a total number of five thousand four hundred and sixty four gender Based Violence cases were recorded during the period under review.
