Banning Union Activities At UNZA An Assault On Democracy-FODEP

Foundation for Democratic Process-FODEP has described the decision by government to suspend University of Zambia Student Union activities as an assault on democracy.
FODEP Executive Director Chimfwembe Mweenge says it is unfortunate that government has resorted to suspending the union instead of addressing the root cause of problems at the institution.
Meanwhile Professional Teachers Union of Zambia has called on Higher Education Minister Professor Nkandu Luo to address issues leading to students to protest and not use emotions.
Professor Luo on Monday announced the suspension of the Union activists at the university due to continued protests.
