Court Orders Star Times To Remove Its Content From Topstar

The Lusaka High Court has ordered Star Times Media and Topstar Communications Company to stop broadcasting similar content with that of Starsat TV until the determination of the case.
According to an interim injunction granted to Cedar Point Technology Trading as Starsat TV, High Court Judge Bubile Lungu has restrained Star Times Media and Topstar from using the brand that is similar to that of Starsat TV.
The two companies have been stopped from holding themselves as servants or agents of Starsat TV or interfering with its operation by the open solicitation of Starsat’s employees and any activity that amounts to a breach of the contract between Starsat TV and Star Times Media.
Judge Lungu has further ordered that should Star Times Media and Topstar defy the order they will be liable to contempt of court and imprisonment upon conviction.
Meanwhile, Topstar has asked the court to dismiss the writ of summons statement of claim and an injunction granted to Starsat TV as the matter is improperly before court.
Hearing date has been set for 23rd May, 2017.
