Manual Valls, France’s former socialist premier, has says he wants to stand for President-elect of Macron’s fledgling movement in June elections.
Macron is seeking a parliamentary majority to underpin his reform agenda.
Valls has told RTL radio that he wishes to join Emmanuel Macron’s political movement as it strives to win a majority in France’s lower house of parliament.
The 54-year-old centrist on the pro-business wing of the Socialists quit his premiership under outgoing President Francois Hollande last December, but failed in his bid to clinch the Socialist nomination for president.
President-elect Macron, 39, was previously economy minister in Hollande’s cabinet.
