Freedom Fighters Bemoan Deteriorating Political Environment

Zambia’s current political scene has been described as unhealthy and a threat to the very foundation of the country’s core values.
A group of Freedom fighters, eminent persons and senior citizens has noted with concern the political divisions and discrimination based on region, tribe and political associations.
The group which includes Ambassador Sketchley Sachika and veteran Politician Vernon Mwaanga, is concerned over the breakdown of the rule of law and the absence of separation of powers among the three arms of government.
It also says the recent court judgment in the case of using alleged insulting language involving UPND leader Hichilema Hichilema, has clearly exposed the incompetence and unprofessional conduct of some police officers and the National Prosecution Authority.
Others who have signed the statement include Mr Levy Chimpinde, Mr Martin Jangulo, Ambassador Joe Mwale, Ompie Nkumbula Liebenthal, Dr. Shimwaayi Muntemba, Mr Shuresh Desai and Ambassador Amon Chibanda.
