Government Challenged To Abolish Some PTA Contributions

Government has been challenged to abolish certain contributions made to the Parents and Teachers Association-PTA.
Some parents in Livingstone say the system is seemingly exploitative.
And a Gender Activist Jean Mweene says asking parents to buy a ream of paper per child each term is too much.
Ms. Mweene says PTA is a good system that is meant to supplement a school’s management for the welfare of children but that it should not be a basis to place total dependence as doing so is unfair to poor parents.
She was speaking at a public forum in Livingstone organized by a faith-based institution.
