LCC Blames Elections For Failure To Collect Revenue In 2016

The Lusaka City Council says it failed to collect revenue from rentals in 2016 because it was an election year.
Council Town Clerk Alex Mwansa has told a parliamentary committee on local governance that the political environment could not allow the council to issue warrants of distress.
Mr. Mwansa said the council has now begun issuing warrants of distress on defaulting customers.
He has also disclosed that the council still owes retirees in excess of 32 Million Kwacha.
