Masaiti Health Centres Charging Patients For Ambulance Services

Expectant mothers failing to pay K50 to access government Ambulances at various health centers in Masaiti District on the Copperbelt Province are being turned away.
The expectant mothers unable to raise the required amount are now forced to use bicycles which have proved a risk.
Other patients are wondering why authorities have remained quiet despite the numerous complaints brought to their attention.
This came to light during a Parliamentary Committee on Health, Community Development and Social Services Public hearing held in Masaiti.
Meanwhile, committee Chairperson Dr. Jonas Chanda says the concerns raised by the community members have been noted.
