UPND MP’S Asks Concourt To Dismiss Petition To Declare Seats Vacant

Mazabuka Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo has asked the Constitutional Court to dismiss a petition where a Kabangwe resident is seeking the declaration of UPND seats vacant.
Mr Nkombo and 51 other UPND Parliamentarians have argued that they were within their constitutional rights to walk out of the National Assembly on March 17, 2017 when President Edgar Lungu went to address the house.
Speaking on behalf of his fellow MPs Mr Nkombo says the petitioner Richard Mumba, cannot ask the court to declare their seats vacant for breaching the oath by not attending parliament as it is a mandate of the National Assembly deal with the matter.
